Scholar's Weekend Centers on Jewish Fighting Forces.........posted Feb 13, 2006
Edward N. Luttwak, senior fellow for preventive diplomacy with
the Center for Strategic and International Studies, will be the featured
presenter during the 2006 Jack Rosen Memorial Scholar's Weekend on March
10-11 at Tikvat Israel.

In several presentations, Luttwak will address the theme of
"Military Strategy and Judaism in Ancient and Modern Times."
TI's Adult Education Committee sponsors the annual event, which
is funded by the family of the late Jack Rosen, who was a member of Beth
Tikva. He was a nuclear physicist with the U.S. Army.
Luttwak's speaking schedule is as follows:
- March 10, 8 p.m., "The Jews and Military Strategy in Ancient
Israel." His remarks follow Kabbalat Shabbat at 6:15 p.m. and a dinner
at 7 p.m.
- March 11, a Shabbat morning D'var Torah on "The Power of King
Solomon" followed by Shabbat luncheon and after-lunch lecture on "The
Jews and Military Strategy in Modern Israel."
Luttwak received his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University and
is an internationally recognized authority in the area of geoeconomics
and strategy. Over the years he served as a consultant to the U.S.
secretary of defense, the National Security Council and the U.S.
Department of State. He lectures frequently at universities and higher
military colleges.
Luttwak is the author of nine books including Turbo-Capitalism:
Winners and Losers in the Global Economy (1999), The Endangered American
Dream (1993) and Strategy: Logic of War and Peace (1985). His work Coup
d'etat has been published in 14 languages since its original printing in
1985.
