TI Hoopsters Stay in Cellar Despite Best Effort.........posted Feb 2, 2006
After getting a week off because of a snow cancellation, the Tikvat Israel men's basketball squad returned to action on Feb. 19 and put together its best effort of the season.
But in the end, the outcome was the same: a 64-54 loss to Shaare Tefila Red.
TI led by three points at halftime. In the second half, they played better defense and shot better. We tried to press during the last few minutes of the game, but despite a few steals, it was too little, too late, TI Coach Warren Berger reported.
The setback drops TI to 0-6 on the season as the team occupies the bottom spot in the standings of the Montgomery County synagogue conference. The team has a bye on Feb. 26, but will return to action at 11 a.m. on March 5 versus B'nai Shalom Blue at Paint Branch HS in Burtonsville. This is the regular season finale with playoffs the following Sunday.
