The 2006 basketball season came to an end for Tikvat Israel's team unfortunately the same way it started - with a loss. But in between the team members had an enjoyable time on the hardcourt.

In a playoff game for seventh place in the Montgomery County synagogue league, Shaare Torah trumped the TI shooters, 68-45, at Paint Branch High School on March 26.

TI Coach Warren Berger said he and his teammates didn't shoot well in their season finale. Plus, he noted, "the 6-foot-10 guy on the other team blocked or altered many of our shots."

Al Sandler and Mark Bardeski finished as TI's top scores, though Berger did not have statistics on their scoring prowess.

"After the game, the team consensus was that we had a successful season: we had fun, we got good exercise, and no one got hurt! Now, it's on to softball, for those of us who crave the competition and whose bodies haven't given out yet," Berger said.
