TI's Jeff Smith Nabs Talking Title.........posted Mar 20, 2006
Jeff Smith once again proved he is one excellent talker when he successfully defended his title in the Toastmasters' Area Speech Evaluation Contest on March 19 in a tournament hosted by TI.
Smith, who earlier won TI's chapter title, now moves on to the third round of competition, the Division Evaluation Contest, where he will be talking against the four winners of other Montgomery County competitions. He advanced to the same round in 2005.
John Melmed, who was TI's other competitor as winner in the speech category on March 4, was knocked out of the Toastmasters' Speech Contest, placing second in the county tournament.
The Division contests, which will involve talkers from outside of Montgomery County, will take place in the TI library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 9. Smith will again compete in the Speech Evaluation Contest.
"The level of speech making and of speech evaluation at this level of competition is extremely good," says John Melmed, who chairs TI's Toastmasters Club. "We expect Jeff hopefully to do well again."
TI congregants are encouraged to support TI's contestant when he competes against much stiffer competition.
