Hoop Team Finishes Regular Season.........posted Mar 6, 2006

Although TI's men's basketball team dropped its final two regular season games to fall to 0-8, the team has one final shot at a win. The team will participate in a 22-minute playoff play-in game on March 19 versus Shaare Tefila Red. The game will begin at 9 a.m. at Paint Branch High School. A victory will extend the season by at least one more game.

Here's a summary of the final two regular season defeats:

Oseh Shalom A 69, Tikvat Israel 49 (March 12)

"We played our best half of basketball today. Even though they had some very tall players, we played good defense, got ourselves open and made our shots so that we were only down by four points at half time," Coach Warren Berger reported. "Unfortunately, they started the second half with a press and made a few steals to quickly go up by double digits. Then, they wore us down as the half progressed, getting many offensive and defensive rebounds. Our shooting also cooled off.

B'nai Shalom Blue 54 Tikvat Israel 42 (March 5)

Marc Schneider, assistant TI coach, reports: "We played pretty well defensively, but shot poorly. We were within 10 fairly late in the second half but went on a dry spell and they went on a run. If we had shot the way we did last week, I think we might have won."
