From TI Head to Seaboard Region President.........posted May 5, 2006
Just a few months removed from a hectic three-year term as president of Tikvat Israel, Shelly Goldin moves into a new leadership role with an even wider span of responsibility.
She's being installed on Sunday, May 7, as president of the Seaboard Region of the Women's League of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. She currently serves as vice president for community service for the region, which stretches from Baltimore to North Carolina.
Shelly served with distinction as Tikvat Israel's congregational president from January 2003 through December 2005. She provided a guiding hand in overseeing synagogue affairs, including the fledgling sale of land behind the shul to a housing developer. She captured the imagination of congregants with her masterful story-telling ability during Shabbat morning services. She contributed "out-of-the-box" thinking to the conduct of the governing board, oversaw the startup of a Hazak chapter and the revival of TI youth programs and the social action committee.
Shelly spends her workdays as director of international business development with the American Bankers Association in downtown Washington.
