Twin Wins for TI Hurlers in 2007 Opener.........posted Apr 9, 2007

Tikvat Israel opened its softball season on a blustery Sunday morning, but the bone-chilling cold must have provided the right formula for success as TI swept a doubleheader from Temple Emanuel, 18-4 and 14-10.

With many regulars returning to the lineup along with a few newcomers, TI was a dominant force on the diamond.

Returning to the team are Warren Berger, Barry Buchbinder, Jerry Danoff, Bruce Ginsburg, Will Hochman, Neil Kram, Stuart Lempert, Alan Sandler, Marc Schneider, Fred Wagner and Mark Waldman. This year's rookies include David Blum, Fabio Lacerda and Rick Penn.

Ten team members braved the cold in the twinbill against Temple Emanuel on April 8. Kram offered superb pitching in the first game, allowing only four runs with stellar defense backing him up. Offensively Waldman scored four times and Ginsburg had four hits in four at-bats.

In the second game, pitching was led again by Kram, who was relieved by Berger. Together they pitched the team to its second victory. The team was led by Berger's bases-loaded triple and timely hits by Sandler, Penn and Kram. Defensively the team made outstanding plays keeping the other team behind for the entire game.
