Dickenson Named to Young Synagogue Leaders Forum.........posted Aug 4, 2007
Howard Dickenson, a Tikvat Israel member since 2001, has been selected for a Young Leadership Recognition program run by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism's Seaboard Region.
Dickenson, who serves as treasurer on the TI Board of Directors, will be part of the first cadre of synagogue leaders to participate in the recently launched Azor Hof Hayam program, which brings together young synagogue leaders from across the Mid-Atlantic Region who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their congregation and the Conservative movement.
Congregants at the Seaboard Region's 43 synagogues in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia were eligible to vie for the recognition program, though not all have honorees selected for the inaugural program. Those selected will be publicly recognized at a reception and dinner on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase, Md.
Professionally, Dickenson has worked since 2004 for the federal Office of Budget and Management in Washington, D.C. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in economics from the University of Illiniois.
A Chicago native, Dickenson was active as a youth in his suburban Conservative shul, Ezra Habonim in Northbrook, Ill.
He and his wife Denise have one son, who is enrolled in the Early Childhood Center at TI.
Upon his selection for the honor, Dickenson said: "I hope to remain involved in synagogue life for many decades to come. The dinner at Ohr Kodesh is just the first of what I hope to be many inter-synagogue activities where I can share our wonderful Tikvat Israel community with others."
