'Israel @ 60' series to cover culture, history, film and more.........posted Oct 25, 2007

A full array of presentations about Judaism, Jewish history, contemporary culture, immigration and the arts -- plus a three-night Israeli film festival -- comprise the "Israel @ 60: Past, Present and Future" series over the next six months at Tikvat Israel.

All events will take place at the synagogue on weeknights and Sunday mornings, starting with a Nov. 11 program titled "Religion and Ethnicity: Sources of Cohesion or Conflict," led by Calvin Goldscheiker of the Center for Israeli Studies at American University. The talk starts at 10 a.m.

Nine programs will follow through May 14. Admission is $5 per participant.

The Israeli Film Festival will occur on three consecutive Saturday nights, Jan. 5, 12 and 19, weather permitting, at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for TI member, $12 for non-member.
