The Tikvat Israel Early Childhood Center's Carnival and Raffle Extravaganza will take place Feb. 22 in the shul's social hall. A day of fun is virtually guaranteed for youngsters, but there's also much to appeal to the older types -- a silent auction, a live auction, raffles and the magic stunts of Jay Mattioli.

Congregation Tikvat Israel will host the president of Jerusalem's Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies for the annual Jack Rosen Memorial Scholar's Weekend Feb. 27-28.
The visiting scholar, Rabbi David Golinkin, will deliver three presentations around the weekend's theme: "Israel and Jerusalem: From Ideal to Reality"

The annual Cantor's Concert on Sunday, March 15 at Tikvat Israel promises to a lively affair. The concert - the synagogue's biggest single-event fundraiser of the year - will feature clarinetist Eyal Bor along with his Jewish Soul Trio joining Cantor Rochelle Helzner under the bright lights on the social hall stage.

A tribute to the president -- our president at Tikvat Israel -- is delivered in delightful form by Rachel Freedenberg in the Feb. 13 edition of the Washington Jewish Week. Rachel happens to be the daughter of newly installed TI President Sam Freedenberg.
