Two Congregants Cycle Across America for a Personal Cause.........posted Jun 4, 2010
Ziva Schuchman and Susan Fullenbaum plan to complete a 3,000-mile, 7-week cross-country bike trip from Seattle to New York this summer to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
They will be joined by 14 other other cyclists, all younger.
Schuchman and Fullenbaum have been cycling for a cure for 10 years.
Schuchman had a brother, Reuven, who died suddenly of acute leukemia. At that time, she made a personal commitment for 10 years to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During this time, she has collected more than $34,000.
Fullenbaum this year she will be cycling for a cure for Parkinson's this year. Her brother Michael was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago. She will celebrate her 65th birthday along the way in July.
Congregants may donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or the Parkinson's Foundation of the National Capital by sending checks to Ziva Schuchman, 13516 Crispin Way, Rockville, MD 20853, or to Susan Fullenbaum, 704 Pebblestone Court, Silver Spring, MD 20905.
Both Susan and Ziva will be chronicling their trip via blogs. Watch issues of B'kesher (TI's weekly electronic newsletter) for links to their sites after they begin pedaling in mid-June.
