Meet Our Youth Group Advisers.........posted Jul 14, 2010

New advisers for each of the four youth groups are eager to launch the new year. The Joint Youth Department of Shaare Tefila and Tikvat Israel has signed new staff members, including (for the first time in recent memory) a pair of advisers who are products of TI’s religious school and youth programs. Here is a rundown of the advising staff with brief biographical information.

Emily Kanner

Emily Kanner, a senior at University of Maryland, is the new adviser of the United Synagogue Youth chapter. She was an active USYer in Natick, Mass., where she spent her formative years. Kanner served as the Seaboard Region basketball commissioner and staffed various Seaboard Kadima and USY events so she’s a familiar face to some of our youth.

Rafi Glazer

Rafi Glazer, an employee of the American Jewish Society for Service, is the new Kadima adviser. He was the Kadima adviser at Tifereth Israel in Washington, D.C., and staffed Seaboard Region Kadima and USY programs for several years. Several of our Kadimaniks got to check him out at the group’s May program (at Zip Lining), a joint activity involving Tifereth Israel and our Kadima chapter.

Dara Kahn

Dara Kahn, a publication specialist with B’nai B’rith International in Washington, D.C., is the new adviser of Machar. A native of Rockville, she has been a member of Tikvat Israel, along with her family, and is a 2009 graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Danielle Hersh

Danielle Hersh, a sophomore at American University, is the new adviser of Bonim. She is a member of Tikvat Israel, too, along with her family. She worked as an aide in the Tikvat Israel Religious School throughout high school. As such, she is already known to many of the children in the Bonim group. The advisers will be ready to greet youth participants and meet their parents at the groups&
