Religious Services For Youth - 5771 (2010-2011)

Tot Shabbat

Jeff, Ellen and Hannah Smith will lead prayers, stories, songs and a Torah parade at this special Shabbat morning service for pre-school age children and their parents.  The service will begin on October 9 and then will be held on the second Saturday of each month at 11:00 am through June in Room 14.  A Kiddush snack will be enjoyed by all.

Kehilat Kids

Designed for students in K – 2nd grade, this service will include songs, stories, and prayers. The children will follow the service from a special age-appropriate siddur.  The service is led by Jason Schwartz and Daniel Mintz in Room 14. Parents are welcome but not required.  The service will be held on the third Saturday of each month at 11:00 am in the library annex from October 16 through June.

Junior Congregation

This Shabbat morning service for students in third through sixth grade will be conducted by the students themselves with the help of Shayna Solomon and Molly Schneider.  The service will be usually held on the first Shabbat of the month at 10:30 am in the Flax Library from October 2 through June.  The date of the November service TBA. There will be no service in January.

Teen Service

Teens, post Bar/Bat Mitzvah through High School, organize and run this Shabbat morning service with the help of song leader, Susan-Lisa Gvinter.   Spirited melodies will be used.  The service will be held in the Flax Library on the following dates:  Oct. 30, Nov. 20, Dec 18, Feb.13, March 26, April 16.  May date TBA.

Torah Club

Under the direction of Elliot Cowan, students in grades four and up learn Torah trope with the goal of becoming proficient in reading Torah.  The club meets every second and fourth Shabbat morning of the month.  Students will meet in the school wing at the end of the Torah service.  Contact Elliot at 301-460-9522 for more information.
