“True Stories” Storytelling show returns to Tikvat Israel for a third season. The previous two shows were extremely well received, and February’s program will again showcase some of the best storytellers in the Washington area and beyond. “True Stories,” A joint effort of Tikvat Israel and the Hopeful Communicators Toastmasters Club with support from the Silver Spring Medical Center program, featuring true and humorous stories told by comedians, speaking champions, authors, local TV personalities and an Emmy-winning actress, begins at 4:30 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2016, in the Tikvat Israel Social Hall.

The ever popular Adam Ruben, author, stand-up comedian, award-winning storyteller, and co-host of the TV show, “Outrageous Acts of Science,” will again weave one of his brilliant stories for the audience.
Melissa Leebaert, an Emmy Award-winning actress will grace our stage for the first time with her story about sibling rivalry.
Mike Bareuther, one of the funniest and most effervescent storytellers you will ever see will make his debut on the TI stage.
“True Stories” is honored to have Kylie Jia, the winner of this year’s Washington Area Humorous Speech Competition, who triumphed over nearly 1,000 other competitors to take the trophy. She will repeat the story with which she won this competition.
Tikvat Israel’s own John Melmed, three-time winner of the Washington Area Humorous Speech Competition, past winner of the East Coast Best Humorous Speaker and past winner of the Washington Area International Speech Competition will tell the hair-raising story about losing all power in his car during the nighttime descent of a treacherous mountain pass in South Africa. No news yet as to whether he survived or not!
