The Tikvat Israel men’s basketball team earned its first victory of 2016 in the Montgomery County synagogue basketball league, defeating Beth Sholom, 52 – 46, in double overtime on Sunday, Jan. 31. Leor Newman was the leading scorer and Rabbi Benjamin Shull added two buckets for TI, which has a 1-2 won-loss record with four games remaining.
