The Atid Learning is off and running. On Sept. 20, Rachel Denrich, director of education and youth programming, welcomed parents and students for the first day of the 2015-16 academic year at Tikvat Israel’s newly renamed school. (Atid, a Hebrew word, means “future.”)

Kickoff activities included a bagel nosh, community tefilah, parent question and answer session led by Denrich, and learning sessions for parents and students led by Rabbi Benjamin Shull and Cantor Rochelle Helzner. During the community tefilah, Max Sobel blew the shofar.

During the school year, children will gain an understanding of Jewish values and customs that will be integrated into their home lives through family partnerships.

“The new school year is off to a wonderful start as the new year begins,” Denrich says.
