A Congregant’s Report on a Year in China

China VisitShaina Lipsy, daughter of congregants Karen and Barry Lipsy, has written about being a Jew in China for the July 22 issue of Washington Jewish Week. Lipsy spent a year as one of only two foreigners teaching English at a boarding school in China’s rural Hunan Province. She reports that most Chinese people have little exposure to Americans and even less to Jewish Americans. This made her adventures in China tough, crazy, occasionally hilarious, but  always exciting.
