An annual custom at Tikvat Israel during the High Holidays is the collection of non-perishable food and baking products donated by congregants for the less fortunate before the start of the Kol Nidre service at the synagogue.

This year, the Social Action Committee, including members Debby Berlyne (left) and Roma Sohn, gathered about 75 shopping bags. They were delivered following the holiday to Manna Food Center in Gaithersburg.
