Class Updates:We started our day with a review of everything we have learned about so far this year during all school program days. I reminded our students that today was the last day we would be meeting as a group at TI. Next time we meet, we will be at Rock Creek Park for Good Deeds Day. We continued our discussion about community, but focused on our responsibility to the greater community we live in. Our students participated in text study on why it is important to take care of non-Jewish neighbors and friends.
Jerusalem (K/1) – Today we learned the letter Koof. We learned the Hebrew word Keshet – rainbow, Kiddush, Kof – monkey and Kehilah- community. We also reviewed some of the letters we have already learned through games.
Haifa (2/3) – After break we spent our time learning another Hebrew letter and vowel sound. Today the class learned the letter Zayin, which makes a “z” sound and the short vowel sound “u”. Some of the letters we have learned so far look very similar. It is easy for our students to mix up the letters and their sounds. Next week, there will be a sub in the classroom because I will be running the open house. The class will do a major Hebrew review and learn about Purim.
Tel Aviv (4-6) – Today, after break, the 4th-6th graders continued their discussion about community with the Rabbi. The group discussed a Hillel quote (“If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?) and how it related to our role in the community we live in. The group also discussed the difference between being selfless and selfish.
Sunday, March 20 – Atid LC Open House! We will be hosting an open house for perspective parents on Sunday, March 20th from 10:00 – 11:30 am. If you know any families who are interested in our program, please pass along the flyer.
Sunday, March 20 – Bomin Youth Group Event. For all K-2nd graders in the TI community. Hamantaschen baking and Mishloach Monot making from 12:00 – 1:30 pm. Tomorrow is the deadline to order Mishloach Manot! Please see flyer for information!
Wednesday, March 23 – Purim Celebration. Join us on Wednesday, March 23rd for TI’s Purim Celebration! Our annual Purim Puppet Show and Megillah reading kick off at 6:30 pm in the social hall. Prior to our puppet show, there will be a pizza dinner for all families that are interested. To register for dinner click here.
Sunday March 27 – Sunday April 3 SPRING BREAK!!! Classes will resume Sunday, April 10th with Good Deeds Day!
