Your partner in Jewish learning,
Kitah Alef (K-2)
Teacher: Limor Dahan
Sunday we:
-talked about the significance of WATER in our life and what would our earth would look like without rain
-explored the prayer mashiv haruach u’morid hageshem that we begin reciting on Shimini Etzeret and continue to recite until the first day of Passover, asking for rain on the land of Israel.
-compared the weather in America to Israel and the significance of rain in the desert climate of Israel.
-created rain sticks
-learned the letter Gimmel for Geshem (rain) and Gamal (camel).
*Please remember your blue ATID folder each Sunday! 🙂
Kitah Bet (3-4)
Teacher: Meirav Shahar
Sunday we:
-learned that we start praying for rain at the end of Sukkot and learned the word “geshem” (rain in Hebrew).
-discussed how people ask for rain in other cultures as well, such as performing a rain dance or creating rain sticks and then we made our very own rain sticks.
-read a short story in Hebrew “meil umitriya” (A coat and umbrella). This story is great for beginner readers in Hebrew. It has a lot of short words and repetition. It talks about the days of the week, the weather and whether the main character, Uri, was wearing his coat or taking his umbrella.
*Since I found it to be a bit challenging for the class to work individually, we started working on the related workbook together as a class and everyone did an amazing job!
-had a special meeting with Luisa regarding the Junior congregation Shabbat, and I encourage your children to join us, even if you are not members of the synagogue.
Our tzedakah total as of today: $51.63!….Lets keep that going!
