In The Orchid and the Dandelion, Dr. Boyce expands upon and fully explores the theory of “orchid” and “dandelion” children. Orchids are those who are naturally sensitive and frail and dandelions are those who are resilient and healthy. Boyce posits that while orchids may be more susceptible to depression, anxiety, ADHD, and antisocial or violent behaviors than dandelion children, that doesn’t mean they cannot do just as well—if not better— than their dandelion peers, if given proper and adequate attention. Utilizing exhaustive research studies complemented by personal anecdotes, Boyce offers hope and pathways to success for the adults who care for and about these so-called difficult children. Part of the Parenting Series. For adults.
