Bat Mitzvah at 100 Celebration

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first Bat Mitzvah held in the U.S. To celebrate this occasion, the Women’s Network is sponsoring a kiddush luncheon and program on December 24 (Shabbat Chanukkah). Please RSVP HERE by Tuesday, December 20. The event is free to attend, but replies help us determine how much food to prepare.

Whether you became a bat mitzvah at 12, 13, or as an adult, or you have a special memory of your daughter or granddaughter’s bat mitzvah, we want to hear from you! Write a brief anecdote in the provided for section of the RSVP form. (Even if you cannot attend on December 24, you can still submit a story.) Your memories will be incorporated into a d’var torah and into the B’not Mitzvah Museum.

What is the B’not Mitzvah Museum? We want your pictures, invitations, programs, dresses, kippot, menus, and other bat mitzvah memorabilia to display in a temporary museum in the lobby over the course of the holiday weekend. Please submit your item to the office with the attached form (the form will download to your device, open it and enable editing to fill it out and print) between December 5-16. All items will be returned! Do not forget to submit your item with the form so we know what item belongs to which person.

Questions can be directed to: Melissa Apter at or Susan Apter.
