Congregants Elect Trio to Grow the Synagogue’s Endowment

4 seasonsTikvat Israel Congregation approved the addition of three members to the board of trustees of the synagogue’s endowment, known as the Fund for the Future.

At a congregational meeting June 5, longtime members Betty Fishman of Rockville, Michael Gellman of Potomac and Leonard Schuchman of Potomac joined as the newest trustees for a term of three years.

The trio joins three previously appointed trustees, Carol Chelemer, Sam Gilston and Julia Pitkin-Shantz.

Fund for the Future trustees are primarily responsible for building the fund, so an important qualification is a willingness to ask members to create a planned gift in support of the synagogue.

At the start of 2016, the fund’s endowment balance was $432,301.
