Nina Ben-Ami, daughter of longtime TI members Marcelle and Robert Copaken, has been named Israel’s ambassador to Uruguay.
She assumed her post at the end of July in Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital city with 1.5 million residents, accompanied by her husband Lior and their three young daughters.
Prior to her latest appointment, Nina served in Israel’s foreign service, with postings in Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Montreal, Canada; and Paris, France.
Nina celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at Tikvat Israel where she also tutored Bar and Bat Mitzvah students. She is an alumna of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School and Rockville High School. She graduated from Princeton University with a major in the Woodrow Wilson School and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to Israel. She also holds a master’s degree from Haifa University.
