Focus Music Presents The Everly Set plus Cecilia Grace

Presenting The Everly Set: Sean Altman & Jack Skuller, acclaimed NYC-based singer-songwriters pay tribute to a pair of their rock heroes.

Ex-Rockapella star Sean Altman is “tuneful and sharply witty” (LA Times) and “relentlessly clever” (Chicago Tribune), with catchy melodies, clever arrangements and lyrics that yield satiric gems (Washington Post), combining “the tunefulness of the Beatles and the spot-on wit of Tom Lehrer (Boston Globe) with a silky tenor voice that produced chills (NY Times). Altman, widely regarded as the Father of Modern A Capella, co-founded and led Rockapella on the Emmy-winning PBS-TV series “Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?”, for which he co-wrote the theme song. He currently sings a cappella with The GrooveBarbers and Doowopera, original pop songs on guitar as a solo artist and original comedy songs as JEWMONGOUS.

Jack Skuller is the 2014 recipient of the Holly Prize, an award made possible by the Songwriters Hall of Fame as a tribute to the legacy of Buddy Holly. The Deli Magazine wrote, Jack Skuller is a teen idol in the wrong era. Buddy Holly would be proud. Skuller has performed his original music around the country with Radio Disney. He is a regular performer with the acclaimed Losers Lounge tribute series at Joe’s Pub in NY. His latest singles have been released on indie label Mint 400 Records.

Singer-songwriting sisters Cecilia and Tessa are a Baltimore-based, Nashville recording pop duo, Cecilia Grace, known for their chemistry and the interplay of their vocals.

The girls began churning out harmonies when they were pre-teens — inspired by sibling groups like the Bee Gees, Wilson-Phillips, Aly and AJ, and the Jonas Brothers. The duo’s unusual blending of voices invoke nostalgic vibes from audiences who fondly recall Heart and the Everly Brothers, even as their repertoire packs together several hours of their original songs and covers of Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and many of today’s pop artists.

The FOCUS event will be staged at Tikvat Israel; light refreshments will be available for purchase during intermission. Advance tickets are available through FOCUS’s website.  FOCUS member pricing for tickets purchased at the door will be extended to Tikvat Israel members.
