Iran Nuclear Agreement Discussed – Part 1

Iran Nuclear Agreement Speakers

More than 120 people came to Tikvat Israel Aug. 20 to hear the first of two forums examining the Iran Nuclear Deal. The speakers at the first forum were Clifford May, president of the Foundation to Defend Democracies and Ilan Sztullman, head of public diplomacy at the Embassy of Israel. The moderator was Tikvat Israel’s own Dr. Aaron Mannes.

Sztullman outlined Israel’s deep concerns about the proposed nuclear deal, particularly in light of genocidal rhetoric from the Iranian leadership. May discussed problems with the verification process and how the United States needs to press for more stringent inspections in exchange for sanctions re-lift.

The forum was then opened to audience questions that addressed subjects ranging from what happens if the United States rejects the nuclear deal to how the Iranian nuclear program is linked to broader regional issues.

The second forum will be held on Monday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m. The speakers will be Stephen Goldberg, a nuclear engineer who was assistant to the director of Argonne National Laboratory and James Acton, co-director of the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
