For the past decade, Tikvat Israel’s Social Action Committee has organized a twice-a-year cleanup of the section of Baltimore Road bordering Rock Creek Park near the shul. This fall’s cleanup crew, donning orange vests and protective gloves supplied by the county, filled right orange bags with trash plus a discarded vehicle tire. Among this year’s crew members were Bruce Goldin (left) and Stu Turkewitz. The latter, along with wife Molly, are the primary organizers of the roadside cleanup. “We’re eager for new volunteers,” Stu says. “Volunteering once does not imply a commitment to do it forever.” He encourages anyone connected to TI (who is teenage or older) to let him know if they would consider helping with the next hour-long cleanup in early 2015.
