Eighteen Tikvat Israel congregants attended a Rosh Chodesh program on Feb. 26 at TI led by Rabbah Arlene Berger and sponsored by the Women’s Network. The discussion centered around what it means to be commanded. Rabbah Berger presented a comparison of the two places that the 10 commandments appear in the Torah and pointed out the differences between the two versions. She offered possible explanations while asking the participants to also think about how the commandments relate to them individually. She asked: Do we follow the commandments because we are commanded to do so, or because it is the right thing to do?
The next Women’s Network event is Book Group and will be held 8:00 pm (following minyan) on April 19 at TI. The book we will be discussing is “The Translation of Love” by Lynn Kutsukake. You do not need to be a Sisterhood member to attend.
