Although illness prevented singer Diana Jones from performing at the Sept. 18 Focus Concert at TI, the 40 who attended received a special treat in her place.
Along with performer David Glaser, four game fill-in performers, Allison Shapira, Caroline Cotter, Michael Howard,
and Harris Amster, ensured an enjoyable show of folk/Americana music.
Shapira is half of the duo Joan & Joni that played to a nearly full sanctuary at TI in the spring. Amster, son of congregants Debbie and Michael Amster, was the opening act for Marshall Crenshaw earlier this year. New to the TI stage, Cotter and Howard wowed the audience with their unique voices, instrumental skills and powerful stories.
The five artists performed a finale together as if they had been playing together for years, rather than meeting just earlier in the day.
