The Right For Women to Say Kaddish in Israel

As a member or TI’s Hevra Kadisha, and a strong believer in gender equality I found the following article extremely interesting. In the last few months, an increasing number of individuals have been refused the right to conduct funerals for their loved ones according to their wishes. Specifically, women have been denied the right to offer eulogies at funerals and the right to recite Kaddish. ITIM staff have held senior level meetings with a number of representatives in the religious establishment. Rabbi Seth (Shaul) Farber will be participating in the Knesset hearings on the subject, to be held at the beginning of February.
