Yom HaShoah Marked by TI Members in Home of ‘Paper Clips’

Twenty-five members of Tikvat Israel and Beth Joshua Congregation traveled to Whitwell, Tenn., site of the film documentary “Paperclips,” to commemorate Yom HaShoah in late April.

The trip to Whitwell offered a window into a part of the country very different than our own, affording an important dialogue and education.

Upon returning from the trip, Rabbi Uri Topolosky of Beth Joshua was asked by the Washington-based newspaper Kol HaBirah to write about this experience. The May 4 edition contained Rabbi Topolosky’s article .

As a follow up to the joint congregational trip, the congregations came together again on May 6 to view “Paper Clips” and selected photos from the trip. As a follow up to the trip, the congregations will be hosting several Whitwell Middle School students and a faculty member during a visit to D.C. and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in late May.
